Ballroom dancing

Latin ballroom dancer 20 x 30 inches acrylic on canvas 2007
I just love the pageantry and style of ballroom dancing. The women and their costumes are so beautiful. I have never seen it live, all I know is the competitions on television. I want to see a live competition, and would love to photograph the couples. This is on my to do list......

Crystal Blue

crystal blue 18 x 24 inches acrylic on canvas 2005

This painting is from 2005. I was really into abstract expressionism. I am once again returning to non objective subjects. What I really enjoy is the invention of pure abstraction. I love the intellectual ephemeral quality of abstract paintings. The older I get, the more that I respect and admire the artists who do abstract work.

Reclining Nude 1984

Reclining Nude oil on canvas 1984 24 x38 inches
This is an very old painting that I did in 1984. As you can see, even way back then, I was developing my style with the dark outline. I remember painting this in my bedroom.....in Houston Texas fresh out of college. I have no idea where this painting is today.

This was done while I was a college student in the early 1980s. The title comes from a popular Pink Floyd album at the time.

modern painting

reclining nude on red 24 x 36 inches acrylic on canvas 2007
Just what is modern? Where does one draw the line between abstract and real? Is the art of creating art dead? What is the future of painting? I am constantly asking myself these questions.......Is there anybody out there? Smile if you can hear me.....Is there anyone at home? :)

Goddess

This abstract woman dates from 2006. She is an acrylic on canvas and is 20 x 32 inches. I don't really know why, but this style of drawing and painting seems to keep reoccurring in my work . To me, it is very natural. I just shut my mind and listen to the inner voice and let go. I think this has similarities to some of the early primitive cultures and how they created art.....Or I could just be koo koo for koko puffs.

before and after

Gothic 16 x 26 inches acrylic on canvas 2004
This is something that I rarely share. The original sketch from a sketchbook, and the final canvas, side by side. A before and after.....so to speak.

It is what it is

babapoosha 24 x 38 inches acrylic on canvas 2007
private collection
A painting from 2007 that I titled with a nonsense name, a made up word. The reason that I made up a word, was that I wanted the viewer to have no visual connection to anything except the experience of the piece of art. I enjoy the idea of abstract art that exists only because the artist imagined it without any outside reference. The painting then becomes a object that exists for itself. It truly is what it is.....

In front of the Mondrian

In front of the Mondrian 24 x 36 inches acrylic on canvas
A painting from 2004 of a girl standing in front of a print by the Bauhaus Artist Piet Mondrian. There is nothing better than a beautiful woman, and beautiful art together at the same time. I saw this lady at a party standing in front of this painting, and I knew this was a work of art. I came home and immediately began to paint this picture.

warm tender moments

Red wine 16 x 22 inches acrylic on canvas 2006
There is nothing like sharing a good wine and conversation with a special friend. My idea behind this painting was to invite the viewer to the table engaging in conversation with the beautiful model. She listens intently as you speak.
